URBAN SCALE
GOAL | The intent of analzying the urban scale of Martin Drive East is to uncover patterns presented at a larger scale. I have decorded this grid portrays a shifting identity through opportunity spaces, grid lines, hard edges, striations, and third spaces.
OPPORTUNITY SPACES | Opportunity Spaces are underutilized places such as a foreclosed home, a vacant lot, and/or nooks between homes.
GRID LINES | These lines flow from hard edge corners, through the opportunity spaces and stop when it hits a planar hard edge condition such as home/building walls.
HARD EDGES | Homes and buildings represent hard edges that the grid lines flow from and to, which puts a cap on urban scale grid.
STRIATIONS | Striation bars show how these opportunity spaces and grid lines connect to rediscover community identity on a neighborhood scale through the shifting.
THIRD SPACES | These represent how homes shift in order to create another space and in which direction these third spaces occur.
